Review of the All-Ireland Basketball Weekend in Galway

Played 3 games in Galway on Sat 1st Feb. Traveled down on the Friday night to prepare for the All Ireland Playoffs.

1st game was against Colaiste Mhuire, Crosshaven. We beat them 52 - 43 with all the lads playing an important part in the result. 

2nd game was against Scoil Chuimsitheach Chiarain Carraroe. The final score was 56 - 36 but didn't reflect the true nature of St Colmcille's potential with the lads feeling like they'd played against a team + 2 referees!

Final game was against CBS Portlaoise who had beaten SCC Carraroe by 12 points in their first game. We beat Portlaoise 46 - 40, despite having both Mark Dolan and Stephen Ward fouled out. 

With 3 teams stuck on the same number of wins, the winner was decided by points difference. The local team, SCC Carraroe went through to the All Ireland Semi Finals on this technicality. 

Congratulation to the girls under 16 division one badminton team who are through to the schools Leinster finals.

Well done to Isabel Doyle, Amy Lawlor, Niamh O'Reilly, Karen Cooney and Ali Beatty. Best of luck girls.

Also congratulations to the boys under 14 division one badminton team who are through to the Dublin schools finals.

Well done to Cian Jones, Evan Cullen, Alexander Dent and Paul Kavanagh. Best of luck boys.
